What is green?
Saving the planet, saving energy and healthy living are among the many ideas associated with being “green”.
Is there a strict definition? No, but there are countless ways to measure or know if we are acting or living “green”. The 3 Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) are helpful buzzwords to get us started – to be less wasteful.
The colour analogy relates to nature’s predominant plant colour. Hence green, for many, symbolizes the conservation/preservation of nature or the natural environment. For others, it is associated with saving energy and resources, often translated to saving money, or leaving more green in one’s wallet. Perhaps you connect green with organic – for example, food grown without man-made fertilizers or pesticides – healthy and optimally non-toxic to us and the farm community.
There is no strict definition of green. It suggests an improvement in attitude, thinking and behaviour regarding life and living. Quite simply, thinking green is thinking better living - healthier, happier, and helpful.
But better doesn’t necessarily mean more or bigger. … but more on that later.

From the convenience of the internet you can learn why and how you can live "greener"
“Spot On Green” is your guide to better living - a better Earth.
Generally speaking, “acting green” means contributing to a healthier Earth involving positive interactions and relationships of people (the people sharing Earth) with Earth’s resources and its environments. As individuals we can contribute; however, human population on Earth (now nearly 8 billion) is such that our collective actions are needed to address numerous green issues related to overpopulation, resource depletion, environmental damage and toxicity. This website will help you explore these issues. We’ll explore ideas such as environmentalism, sustainability and climate change.
Let’s start with population. If there were only seven hundred humans on earth, they would have little capacity to overuse resources such as oil, water and soil, and to pollute at an
earth-shocking level. However, a population of 8.09 billion people on planet Earth, having finite (limited) resources, poses a significant risk of causing irreversible damage and hardship – sooner than later. “How soon?” you ask. Essentially right now, according to many scientists, as what has changed in the last 2 centuries is unprecedented in human history causing our recent excessive use of Earth’s resources. Our dependence on fossil fuels, in particular, has put us in a position that requires us to live green, else Earth as we know it will cease being hospitable to humans. Even if you have trouble believing that, you might consider the personal benefits of living green like reducing your power bill until you learn more about the reasons we consider that Earth is on the verge of being damaged beyond recovery. We’ll help you understand and enable you to take appropriate actions – for a better greener life.
